Today Joy (one of my collies) and I joined our friend Christine (a breast cancer survivor) and some of her friends in the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K walk. Our friend Susan (whose dog Lily is hiding somewhere in the back) made the pooches totally cute pink bandannas. It was a beautiful day for the 5000 some-odd walkers to enjoy Bushnel Park in Hartford and raise some money for Breast Cancer Research! Here's our group at the finish line.
To all of my female readers -- have you had your Mammogram screening this year????Mammography catches breast cancer 3 years before a woman can detect it on self exam (or a doctor on exam). And thanks to modern Mammography techniques, it is being caught early enough that there is now a 98% survival rate to 5 years. But it can't catch Breast Cancer early if you don't go in for your Mammogram!
