party fun

Sunday we held J's birthday party at a really great farm where there was much outdoor seasonal fun to be had! 15 kids (more than half of them cousins) and 22 adults enjoyed themselves on a brisk but blessedly DRY day. (They had been talking about a possible coastal storm earlier in the week, so I spent most of the week fretting about what to do with all those people if it rained!)

Many of the kids (and some of the adults!) enjoyed racing pedal-powered cars on the racetrack, as well as other activities in one of the fields. In fact, there was so much fun stuff to do, the farm animals available for petting were pretty much ignored by all.

J blows out the candles on his cake in our private "room" inside the corn maze.

We had our own private wagon for our hayride, and we filled it up nicely! (In fact, one more family and some of us would have had to stay behind....)

A nice view overlooking the maze and the rest of the farm on our hayride.

J front and center amongst family and friends.

Surrounded by friends and presents, does it get any better than that for a 9 year old?

Then it was off on an adventure through the corn maze!

J and some of his guests punch their punch cards/maps at one of the punch stations in the maze.

Success! The theme of the mazes this year was Dinosaurs, and this mural was located at the exit from the largest maze.

We stayed and played until the sun went down and the just-about-full moon came up (see it just above the trees?) over the cornfield. What a great day! J had a blast, and everyone else seemed to as well.
