hangin' at the park

After spending the entire morning with concentrated indoor sensory play (see my previous post), clearly we needed an afternoon of unstructured outdoor time. Fortunately for us, it was a GORGEOUS day, so it was fairly easy to convince our friends Kyra and "Fluffy" to join us at our favorite park for some relaxed social time.

While waiting for them to arrive, Zoo Boy traversed the stone wall near the animal barn.

We spent a little time in the Nature Center, where J explored the Geology exhibit in great detail, pointing out the more interesting parts to me and asking pertinent questions (he's already figured out that we share an interest in Geology). The fact that the layers of rocks below us tells the story of what was here in past eras is very appealing to both of us.

We moved back outside to await our friends' arrival, and Zoo Boy burned off a lot of energy.

J assumed a more introspective, calm approach to waiting.
Arrive they did, and then we were so busy having fun and "doing the social" that nary was another photo snapped. Zoo Boy and Fluffy got involved in some pretend play that lasted for pretty much the entire visit, and J drifted in and out of their world as he pleased. Meanwhile Kyra and I drank in the sunshine and each other's company and had a splendid time. So splendid, in fact, that we'll try for more splendidness next week!
