I promised you more photos from around the farm in yesterday's post, so here they are! The kids have taken much more of an interest in doing chores lately. Oh, they still spend the majority of our time out there playing in the pastures and woods, but rather than helping 1% of the time and playing 99%, it's more of a 20/80 split now. Zoo Boy in particular is keen on using the manure fork, but here J gets in on the action, too.
Over the weekend Zoo Boy requested that the egg collecting job be his from now on, and we were all only too happy to let him have it. It's a natural for him, given that the chicken coop is his favorite place to play. (He likes to pretend he's opened a chicken restaurant, doling out small handfuls of chicken feed to any hen that wanders in.) Here he collects the eggs in his arms...
...then deposits them in a bucket that J monitors. It's J's job to bring the bucket up to the house when Zoo Boy is done collecting all the eggs.
The boys give The Map Man a hand with some manure management. (We're all working our our PhDs in Manure Management, y'know.)
Time to wrap it up! The sun's going down, so we shut all the gates behind us as we leave the barnyard and head back up to the house for some dinner.
