Based on an idea I got from another Enki-using Mom, I decided to wrap-up our first block by having the kids make a letter chart of the consonants we studies via story during the past four weeks. Here's J's chart. Zoo Boy immediately rattled off the names of the stories in which we learned each letter.
Here's Zoo-Boy's chart. After writing the letters, J recited each of the story verses from memory.
Then J looked through his entire Good Book, commenting on the pictures he drew and the stories they were drawn from. It was a really great block summary, and almost entirely driven by the kids -- all I did was set up the letter chart activity, the kids took it from there. They are really excited to start working with numbers in our first math block, starting next week.
