Harriet Tubman, chapter 6

J's story drawing is above, from chapter 6 of our Harriet Tubman story. This is the chapter in which Harriet actually escapes and makes her way to freedom. J depicted her journey from the plantation in Maryland to her checking her hands to make sure she was the same person as she crossed over the line into the free state of Pennsylvania.

Below is Zoo Boy's drawing, depicting Harriet being dragged quickly into the first safe house she came to after her escape.

Above is J's chapter summary. Too much writing for him, it took him 1 hr 15 min to complete, and he was in tears when he realized he missed a part and had to cross out an entire sentence. (He decided to do that, not me.) I'll be careful to make sure our summary for the last chapter is more concise so there's not as much writing for him. Zoo Boy's simplified summary is below. And at the bottom is my chapter drawing, of Harriet crossing into Pennsylvania. We all broke out in a rousing version of the song "Free at Last" after we read the chapter, it just seemed like the natural thing to do.
