marshmallow atoms

In our Science Fridays chemistry curriculum, we're up to working with the structure of the first 10 elements on the Periodic Table.  The kids constructed each of the elements by assigning the proper number of protons (pink marshmallows), neutrons (white marshmallows), and electrons (mini marshmallows) to each, along with it's chemical name and number.

Then they placed the electrons in their proper energy levels.  Then they arranged their elements into their correct positions in the periodic table.

Then, of course, they ate the marshmallows!
