u -- vowels, part 4

Bloom and root,
Root and bloom.
Bright and true,
But gone so soon.

-from The True Name of the King, Enki Education Grade 1 Academic Story

In yesterday's story installment, a talking butterfly guided our heroine to observing the life cycle of flowering plants. The color theme for painting our U was green. I like these paintings the best so far of the vowel story paintings.

My story painting. We started with a light blue background, then painted dark blue "stems", which we then painted yellow over to make our greens (in real life the paintings look more green than yellow as they do it the photos). Then we dabbed little dots of red to suggest buds or flowers.

J's paintings. I think I finally got the right level of color intensity in the paints, combined with the right wetness of the paper.

Zoo Boy's paintings -- he got a bit carried away with the red, and it overwhelms the color mood of his story painting a bit, but I kind of like the way that reflects his personality.

They wanted some reassurance that tomorrow is our last story segment, and are fretting a bit over whether or not the girl will discover the true name of the King. Both say they think that she does, but they obviously aren't confident about it.
